There are two small video monitors attached to an elongated metal box. Inside the box is a stepper motor with a magnet, a microcontroller, and speakers which is all connected to a computer. The metal ball moves to interact with the video monitors creating a hypnotic trance between object and viewer. The timing of sound, video, and ball are orchestrated to control the action of visual perception.
Click here (14.5 MB) to watch a Quicktime video, or here (9 MB) to watch Windows Media video. Notice the small metal ball that slowly moves across the top of the metal box. The video monitors are shown enlarged in the upper corners.

In this body of work, the object is internally controlled through a microcontroller and a computer program. The viewer, who enters these sculptures, is also internally controlled by their actions. My interests also exist in the space between these two internal conversations.
